About Farmer Max

I am a New-York-born, ex-slug (UCSC Graduate) and escapee from the L.A. film business turned high-tech farmer. I attained an A.S. in Horticulture from Cabrillo Community College in 2012. I’m interested in cutting-edge sustainable agriculture, automation and radical sustainably. I’m also into growing the tastiest, sweetest strawberries around. New this season, are our Shishito Japanese Peppers. They are delicious and we can’t wait to share them with you!

Farmer Max began in 2012. This is our third season of growing crops hydroponically and intensively in our small space in Freedom. Our strawberries are always available at the Casalegno Family Farm stand which is on the left hand side side of Old San Jose Road, just past the Casalengo Store.

Starting this season, we’re making our exceptional produce available online to be shipped directly to our customers in areas of the country where peppers and berries are not as plentiful. While our online prices are high, it’s going to next day air shipping, so you get produce that is as fresh as the day it was picked. You have produce in your hands on the next day after it was picked.
